Obituary: Syed Mohiuddin Yousuf Qadri Passes Away at 78

Syed Mohiuddin Yousuf Qadri passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Surrounded by his children, he was a pious person often immersed in prayer. Yousuf Qadri departed this world with dignity and faith.

A respected elder, poet, and pillar of his community, Yousuf Qadri, as an individual, was known for his gentle nature and humility. His life was a reflection of the Islamic values of patience, gratitude, and love, values and virtues he lived by with quiet strength.

Fluent in the art of Urdu poetry, he leaves behind a rich body of work, including what is believed to be one of the most extensive family collections of wedding sehras, cherished by generations.

He is remembered not only for his literary legacy but for the warmth, kindness, and grace he extended to everyone around him.

He is survived by his children and extended family. He was the uncle of noted Chicago-based oncolgoist Dr. Tajammul Hussain’s wife. His Funeral prayers were held privately. His family and friends have poured their love in the form of prayers: May he be granted the highest place in Paradise.
