Expo Promises Unique Show of Medieval Architecture and Calligraphy
Hyderabad, June 11: The Minister for Minority Welfare, Government of Telangana, Mohammed Azharuddin, will formally inaugurate a unique cultural exposition titled “IMAGE & IMAGINE” this Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
The inaugural function will be presided over by Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, former Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, with Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Daily, attending as the Special Guest.
The two-day event, held at the Media Plus Auditorium in Gun Foundry, brings together a rare artistic amalgamation of contemporary heritage photography and classical Indian calligraphy to celebrate the grandeur of medieval Indian architecture.
The event will also be attended by a panel of distinguished Guests of Honour, including K. Srinivas Reddy, Chairman of the Media Academy, Government of Telangana; M. A. Mukarram Farooqui, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Islamic Bank; and Fazlur Rahman Khurram, Chairman of Dawn School.
Organized by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation (TUWJF), the exhibition showcases the collaborative works of veteran Hyderabad-based photojournalist and author K.N. Wasif and acclaimed calligrapher Ghouse Arsalan. Mr. Wasif, who has spent over four decades documenting sub-continental monuments for prominent publications including the Deccan Chronicle and Siasat, has compiled an extensive visual archive that serves as a vital record of India’s built heritage.
In this showcase, his photographic frames are paired with the fluid, rhythmic scripts of Mr. Arsalan, highlighting the close historical and aesthetic relationship between architectural ornamentation and the written word.
Reflecting a growing focus on heritage protection, a key highlight of the event will be a special lecture by noted architect Yeshwant Ramamurthy, who will address the urgent institutional and civic strategies required to preserve ancient historical monuments against the pressures of modern urbanization.

The exhibition aims to engage art historians, students, and conservationists alike in a broader dialogue regarding cultural continuity. The viewing hours for the public are:
