HYDERABAD: Japanese housing-products group LIXIL Corporation plans to establish a 500,000-square-foot window-manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, with operations expected to begin in 2028, the company announced on October 13.
The facility is expected to expand LIXIL’s local manufacturing capacity in India for pre-engineered aluminium window systems and sliding-door profiles. The company says the Hyderabad plant will complement its existing window-manufacturing facility at IMT Manesar in Haryana.
Hyderabad to support LIXIL’s India expansion
LIXIL said the new plant forms part of its broader strategy to expand its housing-technology business in key markets. The company has established a dedicated organisation, LIXIL Housing Technology Global, to accelerate international growth.
In India, the group plans to scale its TOSTEM brand and its “Windows in the Box” concept. Under this model, precision-engineered, ready-to-assemble window kits are supplied directly to project sites, reducing reliance on complex on-site fabrication.
The company says its approach is intended to improve consistency and quality while responding to demand for aluminium windows and doors in residential and commercial construction.
What the announcement does—and does not—tell us
The planned facility adds to Hyderabad’s profile as a destination for manufacturing and investment. However, LIXIL’s announcement did not disclose the project’s investment value, expected employment numbers or the precise location of the plant within Hyderabad. Those details should not be assumed until the company provides them.
The company described India as a strategic growth market and said the new facility would help build a more localised supply chain. The plant is scheduled to commence operations in 2028, meaning the announced timeline remains a future plan rather than an operational facility.
