3 day Expo To Feature Rare and Artistic Masterpieces, 1400 Year Old Quranic Manuscripts
Calligraphy Workshop by Irani Artists To Be Organized
Hyderabad, June 21: For the first time in Hyderabad, an International Quran Exhibition is being organized by the Consulate of Iran in Hyderabad in collaboration with different literary and cultural organizations here. Addressing a Press Conference at Media Plus Auditorium in Hyderabad on Friday afternoon, Deputy Minister of Culture & Islamic Guidance, Government of Iran H.E. Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Fiqhizadeh announced “the exhibition will be held from 22nd to 24th of June at Salar Jung Museum Western Block Auditorium from 10am to 5pm”
Agha Mahdi Mahdavipour, the representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatullah al Uzam Khamenei in India, Director of Salar Jung Museum Dr. Nagendar Reddy were also present on this occasion.
“The exhibition will feature more than 100 masterpieces of Irani caligraphy of verses of Quran including more than 1400 year old rare manuscript handwritten by Hazrath Ali and the grandson of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) Hazrath Imam Hassan,” said Dr. Fiqhizadeh.
“The promotion and spreading the teachings of the Holy Quran have created great unity among all the schools of Islamic taught living in Iran and also helped in combating vices and spreading the good and noble traits and manners among the masses of the country”, said the Dy. Minister.
Addressing the media, Agha Mahdi Mahdavipour, the representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatullah al Uzam Khamenei in India said “An international seminar on the contribution of Indo Iran Exegesits of Holy Quran will be held on 22nd June. Telangana Home Minister Mr. Mahmood Ali will inaugurate the seminar at 11am. H.E. Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Fiqhizadeh, Agha Mahdi Mahdavipour, the representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatullah al Uzam Khamenei in India and other eminent scholars will present their papers on the contribution of Exegesits of Quran.”
On this occasion, highlighting the contribution of Iran, Consul General in Hyderabad H.E. Muhammed Haqbin Ghomi said “The Islamic Republic of Iran now can be considered as the world center for the translations and commentary of the Holy Quran. From 1979 till 2019, the translation of the Holy Quran in 132 languages of the world have been accomplished and published in Iran and more than thirty crore (300 million) copies of the Holy Quran were published and distributed in Iran, adding that the Holy Quran is “the largest selling book in Iran” along with its translations in different languages along with its exegeses (commentaries).
Iran has published 10,462 titles of new books in 2018 of which 1,188 books were related to the Quranic sciences. During the last forty years, after the Islamic revolution 588 Tafasir (commentaries) and translations of the Holy Quran in 311 different languages of the world were published while 16,467 scientific and scholarly journals were published which included 275 specialized journals on the Holy Quran.” A whopping “eighty lakh copies of these 275 Quran journals and magazines were published in Iran.”
He said “Teaching of the different calligraphy styles to inscribe the Holy Quran, the decorative and illumination art of the Holy Quran is taught in the Fine Art Colleges and Universities of Iran. These art works are regularly exhibited in Iran and different countries and will also be on display during the exhibition in Hyderabad.”
“Three famous Iranian artists and calligraphers of the Holy Quran from Iran will also be attending the International Exhibition of the Holy Quran and a workshop on calligraphy and art work of the Holy Quran will be conducted under their supervision during the 3-day expo”, said the Consul.
He added that “Iran has a dedicated news agency called The Holy Quran News Agency which transmits news related to the activities and events regarding the Holy Quran in Iran and rest of the world. Two national TV channels dedicated to Quranic teachings, one exclusive for the Qiraat (recitation) of the Holy Quran and other is for teachings and commentary of the Holy Quran are also available in Iran besides three national radio channels for Quran in Iran which present Quranic programs round the clock.”
He said “39 major national and international specialized exhibition of the Holy Quran were conducted in Iran and different countries in the world in 2018”. The First International Exhibition of the Holy Quran is being conducted with the cooperation of the Holy Quran Division of the Ministry of the Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad, India from 22-24 June, 2019.
Dr Mohammad Vaezi, head of the department of Quran and Hadees, University of Tehran was also present on this occasion.
