RACEI 2019 International Conference on Civil Engineering Infrastructure Emphasizes Sustainable Development

Prof.Nouredine Bourahla, University Saad Dahlab, Blida, Algeria address the gathering during the third day of the 3-day international conference on RACEI 2019 (Recent Advancements in Civil Engineering Infrastructure 2019) organized by Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology at Sultan ul Uloom Education Society campus, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Hyderabad,  18 Dec 2019: The  three day international conference on “Recent Advances in Civil Engineering Infrastructure” organized by Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology (MJCET) concluded on Wednesday with several industry experts from India and abroad presenting research papers on emerging areas of the discipline.

The conference, which was inaugurated by the Consul General of Turkey Dr. Adnan Altay Altinors, who also holds a PhD in Civil Engineering, on 16th December, concluded on 18th with the valedictory function. Stakeholders in the discipline including students, researchers, academicians, faculty, industry experts, practicing civil engineers, and consultants to name a few shared their insights on structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, transportation engineering as well as environmental engineering.

From blast resistant structures to eco-friendly concrete to construction projects with self-healing concrete, understanding the impact of Hyderabad Metro Rail on those living in the neighbourhood to a real-time project of restoring gas pipeline network across Godavari river, the conference saw an influx of research papers that focused on sustainable development and the use of sustainable technologies with an eye of significant concern for the environment.

The Conference presented an insight into the recent research and cutting edge technologies in Civil Engineering Infrastructure. Experts highlighted the need for civil engineers to address the challenges of  Rapid Urbanization, Industrialization, Global Warming, Environmental Degradation and Climate Change through their innovative solutions to fight and prevent the adverse consequences of developmental activities. It focussed on churning out recommendations for a better, healthier and sustainable world.

Internationally renowned experts including Prof. Pennung Warnitchai from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, Prof. Nouredine Bourhla, University Saad Dahlab from Algeria, Dr. Mohammed Alias Yusof, Associate Professor at the National Defence University of Malaysia, Dr. Wafik Noser Associate Professor, Cairo University in Egypt, and American professors Dr. Fouad Jaber from Texas A&M University and Dr. Priyanka Alluri, Assistant Professor at Florida International University, USA addressed the conference.

As many as 118 research papers from across India and abroad were presented during this conference. SUES Secretary Mr. Zafar Javeed, Prof. K.V. L. Subramaniam, Professor at IIT Hyderabad, M.P. Naidu, Project Director Hyderabad Metro Rail, Professor N.V. Ramna Rao, Director NIT Warangal, Prof. K.V. L. Subramaniam from IIT Hyderabad, Dr Pradeep Ramachalla, Registrar IIIT Hyderabad Treasurer, Dr Mir Akbar Ali Khan, and others also participated in the conference.

Renowned faculties from Turkey, Australia, USA, Hongkong, Algeria, Germany, Russia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Hawaii comprised the international advisory committee while the national advisory committee comprised of prominent academicians from IIIT Hyderabad, NIT Warangal, and different colleges, universities, and consultants.

Secretary of SUES Mr Zafar Javeed congratulated the participants for their indispensable research while Chairman of the international conference and Advisor-cum-Director MJCET Dr. Basheer Ahmed said “the 3-conference was successful as it brought great ideas to the table on construction engineering by prioritizing sustainable development goals.

Head of Department in Civil Engineering of MJCET Mohammed Hamraj convened the conference.
