37th Founder’s Day of Mukarram Jah School Celebrates Eighth Nizam’s Legacy in Education
Hyderabad, October 6: Mukarram Jah School celebrated its 37th Founder’s Day in grand style, paying tribute to the remarkable contributions of Nawab Mukarram Jah Bahadur, the Eighth Titular Nizam of Hyderabad, whose legacy continues to enrich the field of education.
Nawab Mukarram Jah’s profound generosity is remembered for his donation of vast acres of land and multiple palaces, including the historic Purani Haveli, to promote education. These generous contributions laid the foundation for Mukarram Jah School, which has since grown into a leading institution in India, known for its emphasis on quality education and heritage preservation.
The event was graced by Her Exalted Highness Princess Esra Jah, who has been instrumental in restoring Hyderabad’s historic palaces and championing education for future generations.
A significant highlight of the day was the release of a historically rich book titled “The Nizams Sikander Jah, Nasir-ud-Daulah, the Subsidiary Alliance, and the Two Great Indian Rebellions,” authored by His Highness Sultan Ghalib bin Awadh al-Qu’aiti. The book’s launch celebrated the Nizams’ contributions to Indian history and their lasting influence.
His Excellency Orhan Yalman Okan, Consul General of Türkiye, who served as Chief Guest, praised Mukarram Jah’s contributions to education and emphasized the importance of family values, moral responsibility, and social consciousness in his address to the students. Speaking after unveiling the book Ms. Amita Desai, Honorary Consul of Germany for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, called it praised the book’s rich narratives, visuals, and detailed documentation of the Nizams’ era, calling it a “yeoman service to the conservation of history.” She highlighted the significance of preserving historical accounts for future generations and encouraged students and parents to dream and work toward building a better world.
Nawab Abul Faiz Khan lauded the achievements of the students and the teachers for their contribution in helping the institution thrive. He said “Mukarram Jah School, has ranked No. 1 in India’s Budget School Category by the prestigious Education World for two consecutive years, and continues to thrive under the Mukarram Jah Trust’s leadership. The Founder’s Day event concluded with a renewed commitment to nurturing future generations and preserving Hyderabad’s rich cultural legacy.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mrs. Aslihan Yalman Okan, good lady of His Excellency Orhan Yalman Okan, Mr. Habeeb ur Rahman, nephew of Sultan Ghalib al-Qu’aiti, along with the Trustees of the Mukarram Jah Trust – Mr. M.A. Basith, Mr. M.A. Faiz Khan, Mr. Khalil Ahmed, and Mr. Md Faiz Bin Jung – alongside school officials, Secretary Col S. Andiappan (Retd.), Principal Mrs. Rekha Wadhe, and Academic Advisor Mrs. Kausar Sayeed.
