Mr. M. A. Majeed, Managing Director of Pista House, world’s largest Haleem seller, has expressed his satisfaction after Haleem helped Hyderabad, the only city from India to be accorded with the prestigious UNESCO recognition in the gastronomy category. The UNESCO recognition very recently listed Hyderabad among its most sought after list known as “Network of Creative Cities”.
In the city of the Nawabs, where Haleem and Pista House are synonumous, it is pertinent to mention that Pista House played an important role in Haleem selling and distribution in Hyderabad and beyond. Mr. Majeed takes pride in stating that “Pista House is perhaps the only brand that has grown so widely popular across India, and even abroad. The outlet made headlines when the Government of India accorded the prestigious GI status for its Haleem, making Pista House Haleem the only meat based dish to earn the GI status.
Every year in the Islamic month of Ramzan, when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, scores of people throng Pista House outlets across Hyderabad and Secunderabad to taste the scrumptious Haleem. UNESCO’s recognition puts Hyderabad among world’s 66 cities, and the only Indian city to rank in the list in Gastronomy category. Mumbai made it to this list for its films.
Managing Partnes Abdul Mohsi and Abdul Mohaddis, the second generation into the Haleem business, have helped the brand grow at a fast pace, helping as many as 200 outlets crop up just for a month in Ramzan, and several master kitchens across the historic twin cities.
