A Special Interest Group (SIG) on Endometriosis deliberated on the recent advances in medical management of endometriosis. The discussion organized by IFS in association with ISSRF held on the virtual platform Zoom saw participation of experts from across the disciplines to explore the advances in treatment on endometriosis, a painful condition that is caused by the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus in women. The conference started with an expert panel of Doctors. Research scholars and participants from across the medical fraternity.
Eminent infertility expert Dr Roya Rozati, who holds dual offices as the IFS Secretary and also as the Convener of the SIG Group presented a detailed perspective on Endometriois, its causes, treatment and underlying affects. Dr. Neeti Tiwari, co-convener of SIG Endometriosis compeered the program.
In her elaborate talk on recent advancements in endometriosis, Dr. Roya Rozati presented historical perspectives to the choice of treatment available, from managing infertility in young women caused by endometriosis to the new molecules used in treating the condition.
Deputy Director of the Indian Council of Medical Research Dr. R. S. Sharma and ISSRF President Dr N.K.Lohiya participated as the Chief Guest for this webinar while Prof. P.P. Reddy, former Director of IGHGD was the Guest of Honour. In her message, IFS Secretary General and Head of Department of Gynecology and Obstericians at AIIMS Dr Neena Malhotra appreciated the efforts of the SIG to conduct the webinar successfully with an expert faculty while also shining light on the evolving presence and dynamism of IFS around the country.
Dr. Jaideep Malhotra spoke on different ways to optimize the outcomes in In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment through an audio visual presentation while subject matter experts held a panel discussion on Challenges in infertility management in endometriosis. Notable among the panellists Dr. K.D. Nayar, Dr. Umesh Jindal, Dr. Bharti Dhorepatil, Dr. Renu Tnwar,. Dr. Shweta Mittal, Dr. Srilatha Gorthi, Dr. Nancy, Dr. Krishna Leela and Dr. Keshav Malhotra.
A panel discussion on treatment for different conditions and stages of endometriosis under different situations and age groups was also held. Experts opined that if treated early severe harm can be prevented, and chances of infertility due to the implications can be reduced.
16th Annual Conference FERTIVISION 2020 will be held from 4th to 6th December 2020 along with the First Global Virtual Congress of Indian Fertility Society, it was announced during the discussion.
