AI May Threaten Doctors Research

As Artificial Intelligence continues to expand its presence across different domains and professions, specialist doctors and researchers in particular, expressed apprehension about its dark side. Speaking during a program organized by Maternal Health and Research Institute in Hyderabad on Saturday morning, noted infertility specialist and ART Chief Specialist Dr Roya Rozati said “the advent of AI in healthcare, especially in research, is concerning. Many AI tools and platforms are infringing upon the rights of researchers by copying their research without permission from the web.”

Young and old doctors expend their best resources and time in conducting Research with the noble intention of helping pave way for a better and healthier future. Their countless days of tireless work may be absorbed by these AI tools and can potentially be generated as a new research article by the AI without crediting the original researcher, and hijacking the credit for their research.

Speaking on the occasion, Legal experts suggested researchers and healthcare specialists to copyright their work as a means to avoid infringement or assert ownership of such content.

MHRI, a favorably known research center specializing in research on infertility and gynaec issues, is researching on the different factors affecting fertility in both men and women. A slew of research projects including a study on the effects of polluting chemicals on the foetus and mother, the prevalence, molecular evaluation and epigenetic factors in PCOS, etc were approved during the program in the presence of academicians, social scientists and practicing specialists. According to Dr Roya Rozati, sometimes the effects are so deep that patients only come to know about the inflicted harm after the baby is born, or attains a certain age. Our research will help people understand such effects and help them minimize the damage”

The purpose of this research is to gather and provide data to help doctors and thousands of couples with their infertility and gynaecology problems, she said.
