Hyderabad: The Association of Minority Educational Institutions (AMEI), Hyderabad, has appealed to all member school managements to celebrate National Education Day on November 11, 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister and one of the foremost architects of the country’s modern education system.

In a message to member institutions, AMEI emphasised the importance of remembering Maulana Azad’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle, educational development and nation-building. A visionary educationist and freedom fighter, Azad played a significant role in shaping India’s educational outlook in the formative years after Independence.

As part of the celebrations, AMEI has suggested a series of educational and extracurricular activities at the school level to encourage students to learn about his life, ideals and contributions.

The proposed activities include quiz competitions based on Maulana Azad’s life and achievements, essay-writing competitions highlighting his vision and contribution to nation-building, and elocution competitions focusing on his role in the freedom movement and his commitment to education.

Schools have also been encouraged to organise role-play activities, enabling students to enact important events and episodes from his life, and screen documentaries highlighting his contributions.

AMEI has further urged schools to share relevant documentary links through students’ WhatsApp groups so that parents can also watch and learn about the life and legacy of Maulana Azad.

The association suggested that meritorious students participating in these competitions may be recognised with prizes and certificates to encourage greater participation.

National Education Day is observed every year on November 11 in recognition of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s enduring contribution to India’s educational landscape.

Through this initiative, AMEI aims to make the occasion meaningful and inspiring for students while reinforcing the importance of education, empowerment and community participation in nation-building.
