The Centre is scheduled to release the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Friday, October 30. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare says more than ₹18,690 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 9.34 crore farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Eligible beneficiaries receive ₹2,000 in each instalment. Farmers can use the official PM-KISAN portal to check their registration and payment details. The actual time at which a credit appears can vary by bank and beneficiary record, so a scheduled release should not be treated as confirmation that every account has already been credited.

How much will farmers receive in the 24th PM-KISAN instalment?

Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 a year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The 24th instalment is part of this annual income-support payment. The government says the October 30 transfer will cover more than 9.34 crore beneficiaries and exceed ₹18,690 crore in total.

The announcement was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on October 29. The programme is scheduled at Banaskantha in Gujarat. The government also announced the dedication of 521 Agriculture Infrastructure Fund units and the inauguration of 12 horticulture clusters alongside the instalment release.

How can you check your PM-KISAN payment status?

  1. Visit the official PM-KISAN website.
  2. Open Know Your Status under the farmer services section.
  3. Enter your PM-KISAN registration number and complete the security check shown on the page.
  4. Follow the prompt for the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  5. Review the payment details, including payment status, bank name, UTR number, payment mode and the date on which the account was credited, where available.

If you do not know your registration number, use the registration-number help option on the official status page. Do not enter personal information on unofficial websites that imitate the PM-KISAN portal.

Is e-KYC compulsory for the 24th instalment?

Yes. The PM-KISAN portal states that e-KYC is mandatory for registered farmers. The department provides three routes: OTP-based e-KYC on the portal or mobile app; biometric e-KYC at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Seva Kendras; and face-authentication e-KYC through the PM-KISAN mobile application.

For OTP-based verification, the farmer needs access to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Farmers who cannot complete OTP verification can ask a nearby CSC or authorised service centre about biometric assistance. Use the official PM-KISAN e-KYC information page for the current process.

What should you do if the ₹2,000 payment is not showing?

First, check the payment details on the official Know Your Status page rather than relying only on an SMS notification or a bank-app balance. Confirm that your e-KYC is complete and that the bank and registration details shown in the portal are correct. If the status indicates a record or eligibility issue, contact the relevant agriculture office or PM-KISAN helpdesk and follow the official correction process.

The PM-KISAN portal also warns that benefits may be temporarily withheld in suspected cases requiring verification under the scheme’s exclusion rules. Examples cited by the department include land ownership acquired after February 1, 2019, and cases where more than one member of a family is receiving the benefit. Such cases may remain on hold until physical verification is completed. A delayed credit does not, by itself, establish that a beneficiary has been permanently removed from the scheme.

Who is eligible for PM-KISAN?

PM-KISAN is an income-support scheme for eligible landholding farmer families, subject to the scheme’s conditions and exclusions. Institutional landholders and certain categories of higher-income or public-office holders, serving or retired government employees and professionals are among the exclusions set out in the official guidelines. Farmers should check the current eligibility rules rather than assume that land ownership alone guarantees payment.

How can farmers avoid PM-KISAN payment scams?

  • Use only the official PM-KISAN website and government mobile application.
  • Never share an OTP, UPI PIN, bank password or card details with a caller claiming to release the instalment.
  • Do not pay an agent to “unlock” or guarantee a government transfer.
  • Do not install an APK or remote-access app sent through an unknown WhatsApp message.
  • Check payment status directly on the government portal.
