This November, the stage is set for the 19th edition of the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival, a celebration of meaningful theatre that has been held for the past 18 years. It is organized by Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation. Scheduled from November 6th to 11th, this year’s festival takes on special significance, marking the 40th anniversary of the theatre extraordinaire and legendary theatre icon Qadir Ali Baig, who passed away in 1984. Renowned for showcasing poignant, socially reflective performances, the festival has become a hallmark event for theatre enthusiasts.
Over the years, it has attracted distinguished artists and influential voices from around the world, continuing Qadir Ali Baig’s vision of elevating Indian theatre to global standards.
Known for his relentless passion for theatre, Qadir Ali Baig’s work not only elevated the stage but also created space for socially relevant storytelling. His contributions were instrumental in shaping Indian theatre into a powerful platform for artistic and cultural expression. The burden of this great legacy is carried forward by his son, Mohammad Ali Baig, with 2024 marking the 10th anniversary since Baig was conferred with Padma Shri.
