NCPUL Director Releases Book ‘Sach hi toh Hai’

Hyderabad, November 20: Truth is the soul of journalism, and even imagining journalism without truth will be ridiculous.   The way of the truth is thorny and gruesome, but truth always triumphs, opined literary luminaries

Addressing the gathering on Tuesday evening at Media Plus Auditorium, Director National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language Dr. Shaikh Aqueel Ahmed released the book written in Urdu by veteran journalist Dr. Syed Fazil Hussain Parvez in the presence of Telangana State Urdu Academy Chairman Maulana Raheemuddin Ansari.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aqueel Ahmed congratulated the author for his compilation of “exceptional editorials” and said Urdu journalism is known for its powerful editorials. He said “Hyderabad is at the heart of NCPUL”. He said “journalism has the power to be mirror to the society, make or break governments”. He praised the author for his “fearless and truthful journalism through his editorials”.

He lauded the central government’s compassion for Urdu saying “the Modi government granted 316 crore rupees to NCPUL while it received only 146 crores during the last five years of Dr.Manmohan Singh’s government, which is testament to the government’s affection for Urdu”

Expressing fervently on this occasion, renowned veteran columnist Padmashri Mujtaba Hussain said he is an avid reader of author’s weekly publication Gawah and finds its editorials “deeply influencing on the society, and his ink free from monetary and extraneous influences”. He congratulated the author for not giving up in testing times, and holding steadfast to truthful journalism, which is increasingly becoming a rarity”.

In his presidential address, Telangana State Urdu Academy Chairman Maulana Raheemuddin Ansari appreciated the author. He said “if journalists truly valued the purpose of their life and their profession, they will speak and write nothing but the truth. ”

Former Vice Principal & HoD, Arts College Osmania University Prof. Fatima Parveen said “in the contemporary times, fearless and truthful journalism is like trying to meet the ends of a river. Despite this, the author’s work is truth in all its vibrancy and crispness.”  She said the editorials written by Dr. Parvez reflected deep social, cultural, literary, religious and political adeptness and relevance, and have global relevance.”

Mohammed Shujath Ali (IIS Retd.), senior broadcaster and retired Joint Director Doordarshan said “the author’s success through his editorials and journalism is proof that success can be achieved without compromising the dignity and character of journalism.”

Renowned exegesist of Holy Quran Maulana Ahmed Abu Sayeed said “truth is one of the fundamental teachings of the Quran, and urged the people to be truthful in all their dealings.”

Voicing his views on the occasion, Chief Editor of Gawah Urdu Weekly & Managing Partner Media Plus credited his achievements to the contributions and support of his team. He said while favouring truthful journalism as his rightful duty, the author in many instances, was even distanced by his friends and relatives, but truth always triumphed. He said his work is driven by the teachings of the Quran and Prophet Muhammed PBUH, the last Prophet of Islam.

The author, a veteran journalist himself, lamented a section of journalists, who “live under the pseudo illusion of ‘being the creators of destiny’ for the public, and for the government, while in “reality their deeds and actions are the investment they choose for the life after death.”

The author’s book is a compilation of 100 selected editorials published in Gawah Urdu Weekly, that are some of the most awaited editorials on simple yet impactful topics of social, political and cultural relevance.

Media Plus CEO Syed Khaled Shahbaaz delivered the welcome address while Joint Editor of Gawah Dr. Mohammed Abdul Rasheed presented a vote of thanks. Veteran journalist Dr Shujath Ali Rashid compeered the program.

Prof. Farooq Bakshi, President Telangana Progressive Writers Association, India’s first overseas citizen to US Mr. Iftekhar Shareef,  Qateeb and Imam of the Royal Mosque, Public Gardens Maulana Ahsan Al Hamoomi, Dr. Mohammed Iftekhar Uddin, Director MESCO Aleef, also spoke.

MESCO Secretary Dr. Fakhruddin Mohammed, Tasneem Jowhar, Rafia Nausheen, Nafeesa Khan, Rafiuddin Farooqui, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Fardeen, Mr Baquer Mirza, and eminent personalities from different walks of life were also present.
