Skill Deficit Better Than Attitude Deficit: Osmania University VC Prof. Ramachandram

Bespeaking the importance of attitude in addition to skills, the Vice Chancellor of Osmania University Prof. S. Ramachandram while addressing the students of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology on their Graduation Day said ‘companies hire students for the skills they acquire.’ He observed that opportunities might still exist for students with a ‘skill deficit’ but for those with an ‘attitude deficit’, the doors would be narrow.

The Vice Chancellor advised the passing out students to have both the right attitude and the necessary aptitude for the job. He encouraged setting up of incubation centres to help students turn their ideas into prototypes in college whilst enabling them to become entrepreneurs in market. Emphasizing such initiatives by the government, he called upon students to proactively partake in programs like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ and contribute in development of the nation.

Later, the VC invited the students to participate in the Osmania University’s centenary year celebrations commencing from April 2017.

Bolstering the VC’s enunciation, Dr. J. Purnachandra Rao, I.P.S., Additional Director General of Police and Chairman, Telangana State Level Recruitment Board said that ‘in order to be able to contribute to the society, students must know the reality of the world.

“Unless one understands the character and skill matrix of an individual, one cannot really perform better”, he added.

Dr. Rao quoted the example of how ‘real-life heroes’ like Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam and Mother Teresa through their distinguished approaches have made constructive difference to the society. He said ‘these personalities had enormous skills and great character” and rooted on students to acquire skills and ameliorate their character.

Earlier, Secretary of Sultan ul Uloom Education Society (SUES) Mr. Zafar Javeed delivering the welcome address urged the students to continue their pursuit of excellence as it is the way of life, and imperative to keep pace with changing times and competition.

MJCET Director Dr. Basheer Ahmed presented the graduates to the Senate for oath while SUES Vice Chairman Mr.Mohammed Waliullah administered the oath to the students. Jubilant students flung their caps in their air as cameras fluttered to capture their joy. 732 students graduated this year from MJCET with a pass percentage of 87.1.

SUES treasurer Dr. Mir Akbar Ali Khan, Prof. S.A. Wahab, Mr. Amir Javeed, Principal K.V.Krishnan, and others were present on this occasion.
