Situation in Palestine is Like Apartheid of South Africa: Palestine Ambassador

“The current situation in Palestine is like Apartheid that once existed in South Africa”, said Ambassador of State of Palestine to India Adnan Abu Alhaijaa. Apprising the media of the current situation in Palestine at Media Plus Auditorium, Gun Foundry post noon on 27th October, the Palestinian Ambassador said “Israel is continuing its atrocities on women, children and Palestinian people, depriving them of their own rights and their own land”.

“Israel is in continuous violation of the international law and elevating human suffering and devastation by its continued aggression on the Palestinian people. “The Palestinian Bedouin community is the most affected these days due to these violations”, he added.

“Israel is targeting Khan Al Ahmar as it is located in the planned area of the E-1 settlement, whose construction would irreversibly and permanently divide the occupied West Bank into north and south as well as sever all geographic connection to Jerusalem”, he said.

“The colonial project covers about 12,000 acres of illegally appropriated Palestinian land.” Israel’s occupation of the same will “impede the establishment of a Palestinian state with territorial continuity.”

He further said that despite these stark violations of international law, “no Israeli politician, military personnel or settler responsible for such crimes has ever been brought to justice.”

Comparing the current situation in Palestine to Apartheid state that once existed in South Africa, he called upon the international community to reject and condemn Israel’s racist law that denies the connection of Palestinian people to their historic homeland.

Known as the Nation-State Law of the Jewish People, the law also dismisses rights of Palestinian people, their history and heritage, as well as the United Nations resolutions relevant to the Palestine question and the agreements concluded with Israel.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Indo Arab League Hyderabad said “India has always been a staunch supporter of Palestine. India will support to continue Palestine until it attains freedom”. He said “70.5% of the UN membership recognizes the State of Palestine and 176 out of 193 UN members called for the Palestinian statehood.”

“India does not recognize Israel’s unilateral annexation of East Jerusalem, and stands with the international community in support of the creation of a sovereign, independent, Palestinian State, along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

He further added that the Zionist regime is indiscriminately attacking protesters, including innocent women and children’ to forcefully occupy Palestinian land. Indo Arab League Hyderabad will organize an all-party meeting to condemn the continued atrocities in Palestine and pledge its support for Palestinian independence.”

Vice Chairman Dr.Mir Akbar Ali Khan, Syed Amiruddin and others were also present on this occasion.

—Indo Arab League Hyderabad is a UN recognized organization spearheading the cause of Palestinian peace and continuing to assert India’s supportive stand for the cause of Palestinian peace.
