FOCUSS Helps To Free 100 Jail Prisoners on Milad un Nabi

Hyderabad-based social organization is helping 100 jail prisoners free on the occasion of Milad un Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammed PBUH. Nearly 100 prisoners will be freed from Central Jail, Chanchalguda in successive batches starting Friday.

Prisoners who are incapacitated by their financial conditions and serving term for petty allegations will be freed with the help of FOCUSS, which sponsors the legal and financial resources required for the purpose. Since 2016, FOCUSS has helped free 90 incapacitated prisoners on Milad un Nabi.

According to Mohsin Bin Mohammed Al Hamoomi, President of FOCUSS, “several prisoners lose a major part of their life in jail for the simple reason that they are unable to pay the bail out fee or carry out legal procedure necessary to obtain bail. FOCUSS is helping such deserving prisoners reunite with their family by filing land funding their bail applications.”

Interestingly, there are no reservations to cast and creed in considering their release. We work to help prisoners regardless of their religion, caste or creed”, he added.

Another office bearer of FOCUSS Maulana Ahsan Bin Mohammed Al Hamooni said “even if each middle class family or an affluent family from the city comes forward to sponsor the legal fees of one prisoner who cannot afford it by himself, a lot of prisoners convicted of such niggling charges will be able to live free and with their families again.”

“It was one of the Prophet’s traits to free prisoners, and Milad-un-Nabi is the best occasion to imitate that for the greater good of our society, irrespective of cast and creed.”

The organization also conducts blood donation camps every year on the eve of Milad un Nabi.

A blood donation camp will also be conducted by FOCUSS at Central Library, Afzal Gunj, at Idgah Balamrai, Secunderabad and at Public Gardens, Nampally on Monday, 23rd November from 7am to 5pm. Last year, many non-Muslims also participated in the blood donation camp.

According to Maulana Hamoomi, nearly 1600 youth donated blood during the camp at both places last year and the collected blood was distributed among the needy patients through Thalasemia and Sickle Cell Society Blood Bank and Red Cross Society, he added.
