Education and Employment The Path to Empowerment: Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad, February 23: “Education and employment are the keys to claiming our constitutional rights. Without political power, education alone may not be enough,” said Asaduddin Owaisi, Managing Director of Deccan College of Medical Sciences (DCMS), as the institution marked its 40th anniversary with the grand Quadrigenia celebration.

Paying tribute to his father, the late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, Owaisi emphasized that his vision was not just about providing education but about empowering an entire community to stand with dignity.

The celebration reflected on DCMS’s remarkable journey—from its modest beginnings under the shade of a tree at Lutf-ud-Dowla Palace to becoming a premier medical institution with a 500-bed hospital, a vast and evolving campus with hostels, cafes, sports facilities, a gym, electric vehicle-friendly parking, and ambitious expansion plans.Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ashfaq Hasan, Principal of DCMS and Organizing Chairman of Quadrigenia, highlighted the institution’s focus on not only medical excellence but also humane and empathetic healthcare professionals, especially in a world increasingly shaped by AI.

He lauded Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi’s foresight and resilience, recollecting him as “forthright, simple, and strong in the face of adversity -the kind of leader usually read about in novels.

Owaisi proudly shared that over 5,000 doctors who have graduated from DCMS are part of the global medical force, many of whom are now serving in India, North America, the UK, and even in conflict zones like Gaza and Rohingya.

He recounted the moment – when, instead of seeking political advantage, his father, fondly addressed as Salar, chose to secure permissions for medical and engineering colleges, laying the foundation for an educational movement that has transformed thousands of lives.

The event also paid tribute to the departed faculty and staff, whose contributions helped shape generations of doctors. Dr. Adil, Organizing Secretary of Quadrigenia, underscored the importance of preserving and expanding Salar’s mission for future generations. The Chairman of Darus Salam Education Trust congratulated DCMS alumni and staff, reaffirming that the institution aspires to help the community lead dignified lives through education and professional empowerment.

DCMS’s 40-year journey is part of a larger vision initiated by Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, who established medical, engineering, and computer education institutions to empower the community.

As Asad Owaisi recollected, “the Owaisi hospitals are built with the ‘blood and sweat’ of their founders, and urged the alma mater and the students to continue serving the mission. Asaduddin Owaisi concluded by reminding the audience that the party’s mission goes beyond elections – it is about making people citizens with rights, not just voters. He concluded with a call to prioritize collective benefit over personal gains as the only way to ensure that future generations inherit a legacy of knowledge, empowerment, and social justice.
