Editor Munsif Khan Lateef Khan Passes Away in Chicago

Hyderabad, August 7: Mr. Khan Lateef Mohammed Khan, an eminent personality of Hyderabad, business tycoon and Chief Editor of Urdu daily Munsif passed away on Thursday, August 6 in Chicago, USA and laid to rest after Friday prayers at the Muslim graveyard there. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Khan Lateef Khan, once a close friend of Prince Mukarram Jah and Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar was an Osmanian. He went to Chicago in 1970s and established himself as a business tycoon. In 1997, he took the ownership of Urdu daily Munsif and introduced it as an ultra-modern Urdu newspaper. He launched the satellite TV channel Munsif TV nearly 15 years ago which became the voice of minorities.

For 22 years until his demise, Mr. Khan Lateef Khan had been serving as the Chairman of Sultan ul Uloom Education Society (SUES), an umbrella body for 22 educational institutions from KG to PG strata. He established high schools and junior colleges in old city of Hyderabad. The city mourned his sudden death as Hyderabad lost its beloved son. SUES Secretary Mr. Zafar Javeed in his condolence message paid rich tributes to Mr. Khan Lateef Khan.

Former Deputy Director of India’s state run broadcaster Doordarshan and Congress spokesperson Dr Shujath Ali Shaji, Chairman of Telangana AICC Research Cell and Sultan Uloom Education Society of which Mr Khan has the been the chairman for 22 years offered condolences to the departed son of Hyderabad.
