Ila Arun to Perform at the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival

Hyderabad, November 7, 2024: Renowned singer and actress Ila Arun is set to grace the stage at the 19th edition of the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival, where she will showcase her versatile talents in a special performance titled ‘Miracle on Matunga Street’. The festival, which kicked off on November 6 at the Taramati Baradari Cultural Complex, is an annual celebration of the performing arts, and Arun’s participation adds a unique star-power to this year’s lineup.

Ila Arun is celebrated not only for her distinctive voice in Indian cinema but also for her impressive contributions across multiple fields of entertainment, including acting and music. She first rose to prominence with the iconic song “Choli Ke Peeche” from the blockbuster film Khalnayak (1993), where her powerful vocals, along with Alka Yagnik, earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. Some of her other standout songs include “Ghup Chup” from Karan Arjun (1995) and “Morni Baaga Ma Bole” from Lamhe (1991), where she collaborated with the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. Arun’s global acclaim also includes her contribution to the international hit “Ringa Ringa” from the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire (2008).

Beyond her music career, Arun has made a significant impact in acting. She has appeared in numerous films, portraying a wide range of characters, from the shrewd Maham Anga in Jodhaa Akbar (2008) to roles in China Gate (1998), Well Done Abba (2009), and Begum Jaan (2017). She also had a notable presence on television in the 1980s, with roles in Bharat Ek Khoj and Yatra.
