Deeply Honoured by Recognition, says former Indian Cricket Captain
Hyderabad, September 22: Jamia Hamdard on xxx awarded an honorary doctorate to legendary cricketer and former captain of Indian Cricket Team Mohammed Azharuddin.
The doctorate was presented to Mohammed Azharuddin by Chief Guest Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena in the presence of Chancellor Jamia Hamdard Hammad Ahmed and Registrar Dr. M.A. Sikandar for his exceptional contribution to Sports during the 14th convocation of Jamia Hamdard at the university campus in New Delhi.
Accepting the Honorary Doctorate, Azharuddin said “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from Jamia Hamdard. This institution’s commitment to excellence resonates with the experiences in cricket, and I am humbled by this gesture.”
Other notable recipients of honorary degrees at the convocation include Dr. Raman Kant Garg, a medical doctor and Indian Revenue Service civil servant and Dr. Abdul Kadir Fazlani, Chairman of Fazlani Group. They were honored for their exceptional contributions in public finance, and public service, respectively.
More than 7,900 students who graduated between 2019 and 2022, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. recipients, received their degrees. 243 Ph.D. degrees and 70 Gold medals were presented to outstanding students (34 undergraduates and 36 postgraduates). A total of 4,954 undergraduates received their degrees, with 2,714 postgraduates also awarded. The event was attended by over 2,000 students, along with 500 guests and proud parents.
