The establishment of Osmania University is a first of its kind measure in the world that shows higher education in Indian languages could be possible. The Osmania University too has imbibed Journalism as one of the subjects of its degree course Master of Arts (M.A). Several other universities have introduced degree courses in Journalism and in some universities, Journalism and Mass Communication in Urdu was introduced as a part of the curriculum.
In fact, the apex educational organization upholding and promoting the cause of Urdu, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), named after the legendary journalist and freedom fighter, stands steadfast in enlightening the students with the knowledge and learning of Urdu and its lexicon, not just in literary dimensions but also optionally from a journalistic point of view.
The MANUU also offers graduate, post graduate and research level courses in diverse verticals including Journalism with Urdu as the primary medium of instruction. Other renowned colleges including those run by the government and private sector contribute in educating Urdu by ensuring it remains a key part of their academic syllabi.
